About Us
We specialize in Soul food, Seafood, Grilled food & Caribbean foods. Colemans Kitchen started as a family owned business that was founded & created by a minority woman. Janine D. Coleman also created the first of its kind fast food carryout with a $1 menu for NITA “so nobody is turned away” customers. This ensures everyone eats the same freshly prepared foods that are also affordable.
We create jobs that build the community. We hire by remembering the forgotten 1%-10% of those from low income and disadvantaged communities, and special abilities or disabilities. We give priority to Ward 7/8 residents of Washington Dc. We strongly believe in the disadvantaged and surrounding communities.Read More

TLC Maintenance
Good food always brings folks together even a community of folks. the food prepared by Colemans kitchen is fresh and tasty and have you come back for more. I know the owner personally and she is determined to help with improving the ward7/8 neighborhood and plans to bring other developing businesses with her. Mrs. Coleman always finds time to make her sales and then give back to feed her community of which some are homeless and in need. She creates jobs by enlisting residents in the community looking for work. I love the way she helps other businesses thrive while building her own. Watching her give back, revitalizes, and wakens the neighborhood.

Coleman’s Kitchen has already distinguished its menu selections from the competition by preparing great meals concepts to feed homeless individuals at the local shelters and its community with its southern taste it reminds me of grandma’s down-home cuisine. Dish by dish she takes Washingtonians and the community of ward 7 back to southern cooking. Coleman’s Kitchen is speared by its founder Mrs. Janine Coleman and she leads by bringing awareness of her unique dishes to churches, schools, and businesses. She has many individual clients, and I am proud to be one of them. I enjoy her southern style of cooking which is prepared with love. My church is still raving about her fried chicken and other foods. It gives me joy to eat it and to serve it to my family and friends.

I have the pleasure of meeting Ms. Coleman at a catering event sponsored by one of her clients where she prepared phenomenal tasting food that was also a luxurious dinner for me and my wife. Let me tell you that was the best meal I have had in a long time. Ms. Janine Coleman is Heaven sent and has a cooking gift from God. Coleman’s Kitchen is a great cooking sensation that is about to take the world by storm. I love soul food with that southern taste such as chitterlings. I’m very picky about these. I love her tender and well-seasoned chitterlings and collard greens that melt in your mouth. Her cakes and desserts are homemade and the butter tasting cornbread taste like my grandmother’s. Mrs. Coleman has a cooking ability that should be shared with the world. Another thing I witnessed is how much she enjoys owning a business that helps and serves others in need, especially those in ward 7/8 East of River communities of Washington DC. Ms. Coleman is creative with how she gives back. She has sponsored barbeque meals cooked on the grill serving the community outdoors, no matter if it is 90 degrees hot weather or 10 degrees cold weather. Coleman Kitchen food stands the test of time.
J. Henderson ( Owner ) CustomerFrosty’s Help the Needy Alliance (FHNA)
As a 501c3 owner, my organization has used the services (food & time) of Colemans Kitchen multiple occasions. Colemans Kitchen Staff and owner has often assisted my organization and team members with raising funds for those in need as well as feeding the homeless. And helping with community events since 2007. However, Colemans Kitchen LLC has provided help for all kinds of people in need, especially people not always welcomed by their community. The owner J. Coleman uses her for-profit business to help us with feeding and employing youth, special needs, disabled and returning citizens. Mrs. Coleman is always recruiting folks to help her serve food. Colemans Kitchen specializes in Soul food, Seafoods and Grilled foods; the folks are asking for more which tells me this business has more great things in store. This is one of the very few black owned businesses in DC and the only owned by a minority female that has a $1 menu created for a specific group of customers in Ward 7/8. That is Awesome by itself. She took a risk and is a Great example to other minorities that “the sky really is the limit.

Impeccable faith and courage are characteristics of a High-Definition Woman which describes Janine the Founder of Colemans Kitchen. She is truly the epitome of faith and courage in action! Her journey to entrepreneurship came through a series of job losses and financial setbacks over the years, yet her determination to excel could not be extinguished. Janine took a leap of faith and decided to market her gift of cooking and Colemans Kitchen was born. With a Multimillion-dollar vision, and God on her side, she has already made history in the food industry of entrepreneurs in Washington DC as the first known African American woman to open a REAL soul food carryout business in the area, that also included a $1 dollar menu, so nobody is turned away. Though struggling to get her doors opened, she still finds time to reach back and support others in her community. Janine is full of life with a determination to WIN, despite obstacles.

The business she chose is an Eating business which means that a need is being met. At the age of 82 years old, it gives me great pleasure to see my daughter open a business in food industry because she can cook, and Colemans Kitchen food always taste good and is affordable. She even has time to still cook and feed the homeless. I am immensely proud of her for never giving up. My daughter wants her business to be successful, but she knows that helping others is the key to her success. I watch her help others, youth, homeless and other struggling businesses. She uses her food to get other businesses to join her.
